Netflix announces Vladimir premiere date

The new limited Netflix series Vladimir is set to premiere on March 5.

Via Tudum, Netflix shared a first look at the show and promotional photos. Inspired by the bestseller of the same name by Julia May Jonas, the series stars Rachel Weisz as a middle-aged college professor who becomes intensely obsessed with her younger new coworker, Vladimir, played by Leo Woodall. Sexy and darkly humorous, Vladimir shows what it looks like when a woman is focused on making her wild fantasies come true.

The eight-part series has Weisz playing an unnamed character whose life feels stuck. She no longer feels hot or desirable, her open marriage feels flat, and her writing career has stalled. Through her character’s point of view, viewers are invited to see the fears and insecurities of a woman who is aging as her crush on Vladimir comes as a breath of fresh air.

Weisz said, “Her fantasy is about the power of desire — the invigorating, stimulating, inspiring and revivifying feeling that she gets from her obsession with Vlad.”
